Always follow standard safety procedures when working on a valve.
Cryogenic valves are specially modified versions of standard Velan
valves. All cryogenic valves except check valves are supplied with
an extended bonnet with a sufficient gas column length to keep the
stem seal packings exposed only to vapor and not the cold liquid.
The conversion of a standard valve to a cryogenic valve is possible,
but must be done properly. Velan authorizes only two shops in the
world to make these conversions. Contact the Velan
Field Engineering Services Department for details.
